My experience was wonderful with Dr. Bell and his staff. I was admitted to Sky Ridge on an emergency GI bleed that was being caused by my Hiatal Hernia. The general surgeon on call at the hospital wanted to do surgery very quickShow morely. I did not get a good feel from her, so I canceled my surgery, and got released from the hospital on a Saturday. I did my research over the weekend and saw that Dr. Bell was highly recommended and qualified to do the surgery. So I called the office on Monday morning, explained my situation and amazingly, they got me in that afternoon to see me. Both Dr. Bell and Kat his NP, were so comforting and informative. Dr. Bell arranged me to have surgery the next day…Tuesday. He stayed late on his surgery day to fit me in. That is what an outstanding doctor and human being he is. My surgery went extremely well. And I know I made the right decision by having him do the surgery. My best advice to anyone that needs a Hiatal Hernia surgery, please go to a foregut specialist, and try to go to Dr. Bell. He is truly amazing, you won’t regret it. Do not have a general surgeon do the surgery.
My experience with Dr Reginald Bell, Kate Freeman & staff was totally outstanding, in every way! My experience with the hospital was marginal: eg, not responding to my call for assistance, staff giving wrong information, "Patient Show moreDischarge General Information" wasn't even legible -- these are just a few examples! I find these kinds of things to be very important to me/my care -- & what is very reasonable to expect from such a big, well-known hospital! However, certain individuals were fenominal. Reginald C.W. Bell, MD, FACS, is the founder of the Institute of Esophageal and Reflux Surgery in Lone Tree, Colorado, a part of SOFI Research, LLC. Dr. Bell has practiced for over 30 years and has extensive experience performing minimally invasive procedures on the esophagus and stomach.
In 1976, Dr. Bell earned undergraduate degrees in physics and English literature from Stanford University in Stanford, California. He then received his master’s degree in religious studies from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In 1979, Dr. Bell earned his PhD in religious studies from Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his medical degree in 1985 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Bell interned and received his general surgical training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado, completing as chief resident in 1990. That same year, he entered private practice in Englewood, Colorado.
Dr. Bell has worked with leaders from around the country to develop a society dedicated to foregut diseases: The American Foregut Society (AFS). The vision of AFS is to advocate personalized treatment strategies for patients with foregut diseases through a collaborative partnership across disciplines. He’s currently chair of the board and will be president starting September 2022.
Dr. Bell is a board-certified general surgeon and fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the American Society of General Surgeons, and the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.

Would absolutely recommend Dr. Bell. He answered all my questions and explained everything very well. I was able to quickly move forward with testing to determine if the LINX would work well for me. I am happy there is finally something that can help with reflux besides medication.

Staff was friendly and top-notch
I was surprised that such a renowned doctor, such as Dr. Bell, would be so kind and attentive. I was pleased that he listened and was able to give me feedback on some of my concerns and also explain in plain words the procedures. I was happy that my doctor referred me to Dr. Bell. I will be recommending him and his office as often as I can.
